Architecture Fellowship at Old Salem Museum (North Carolina)

Old Salem Museums and Gardens is a restored eighteenth century town in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where Moravians, a Protestant group who immigrated from the Czech Republic to America, had an early settlement which grew into a thriving town. The town features craftsmen, a tavern restaurant, shops, one of the oldest women's boarding schools in the country, an African American church museum, and more. The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts was also built next to the historic district to interpret colonial material culture. Old Salem offers a variety of opportunities, including an architecture fellowship for post-graduate "young or new scholars."

Museum of Tolerance Internships (California)

The Museum of Tolerance is a multi-location (and multi-national!) institution dedicated to interpreting the history of the Holocaust and encouraging the development of tolerance and kindness in the general populace. This particular branch is in Los Angeles, CA, but there are also locations in New York City and Jerusalem. The museum offers unpaid internships to students seeking to earn college credit and also offers youth and adult volunteers.

• The Howell Living History Farm, an 130-acre farm interpreted as a working farm in the early 1900s, offers an internship program in self-sufficient farming. Interns work for 12 weeks in the summer, spring, or fall and gain experience working with livestock, crop processing, gardening, and even wood and metalworking, as well as other tasks depending on the season. The Society of the Cincinnati, DC Anderson House Museum Grad Internships and Fellowships

The Society of the Cincinnati's Anderson House Museum and society headquarters, located in northwest DC on embassy row in Dupont Circle, offers two internships in museum work for graduate students featuring stipends as well as library research fellowships. The Society is a hereditary group comprised of male descendants of Revolutionary War officers. The Anderson House is an early twentieth century mansion filled with intriguing decorative arts amassed by Society member and American ambassador Larz Anderson in his travels through the world, including choir stalls from a European church and other large, incredible stuff that rich, well-traveled people are able to obtain. It's a breath-taking place and also home to the Society's Revolutionary War and George Washington-related memorabilia, maps, documents, books, and objects.

Housing is not offered but the house is a short walk from the Dupont Circle metro station (and close to a multitude of Starbuckses).

Lewes, Delaware's incredible historical society offers a few internship programs each summer for students interested in a career in the public history field, including stipend-backed opportunities! Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum Internships and Fellowships

The Anacostia Community Museum is a newer Smithsonian institution located in southeast Washington, DC. This cutting-edge museum seeks to interpret urban experiences and the culture of minorities. It offers a very mentor-focused internship experiences for students aged eighteen or older and enrolled at or recently graduated from an academic institution.
